For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than holocausts.
(Hosea 6:6)

Heritage Festival - Sunday, October 12,  2008

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 12 from 2:00-5:30 p.m.  There will be a Polka Mass, parade, raffle baskets, moonwalk, and much entertainment and food.  We have six ethnic groups represented and still need a committee for the African Union and Italian.  Tickets will go on sale the weekend of September 13th & 14th.  We still need donations for the three baskets we will be raffling at the event.  To volunteer contact Jane Hunley at 353-2133 or e-mail: jane.hunley@zurichna.com

This is another parish FUNRAISER!

Super Summer Raffle

The drawing will be held next Sunday, August 17th after the 10:00 a.m. Mass.  Tickets are only $5.00 each.  Your friends and neighbors won’t want to miss out on this chance to win some great prizes….and don’t forget to buy some for yourself!  Ticket stubs must be mailed by Monday, August 11th, brought to the Parish Office, or dropped in the collection basket (please mark “raffle” on the envelope).  Thanks for your help in making this fundraiser a success!

RCIA sessions will be starting soon.  If you would like to participate in this important ministry as a team member, sponsor, or know someone who is interested in joining the Catholic church, please call Deacon Sam at 353-2380.

Journeys -- Photographs from the Altar Society meeting. The Altar Society celebrated Journeys at its 11 June 2008 meeting.  Three men who are very important to the OLL parish family were recognized for the journeys that they are experiencing.

Deacon Jerry Williams, who has served the people of Our Lady of Lourdes for ten years as the Pastoral Associate, will be retiring in July and beginning that journey. Seminarian Adam Haake will be journeying for Rome to continue his formation and education. Father Steven Rogers recently celebrated the second year of his journey as a priest. Latest News from the School

Class of 2009 Aluminum Can Drive
The Eighth grade class will be collecting aluminum cans to help
Save the Planet, and earn funds for their class trip.  We would love to give everyone an opportunity to lend a hand in the commitment to “go green” and help the 8th grade at the same time.

Can collection will be the last Saturday of every month. You can drop your cans off starting Friday after 3:15 but no later than 9:30 on Saturday morning in the courtyard in front of the school.  Please be sure to tie the tops of bags, and if at all possible, crush cans to help with room as we will be physically taking these to the recycling center. Can collection started in June 2008.  Through the efforts of those who have participated, 264 lbs of aluminum have not made it to landfills. PLEASE do not leave any cans before 3:15 on Friday or after 9:30 as we do not want to dirty up our school grounds.

If you have questions, please feel free to email snoddy@casstel.net

Ink & Cell Phone Recycling
Did you know 80% of all printer and fax cartridges end up in a landfill?  These items are made with petroleum based plastics and are not biodegradable.  OLL has teamed up with the “eCycle” recycling program which is designed with kids, teachers and parents in mind. Gather your cartridges and phones and deposit them in the bin in the school lobby!  Earnings are designated to go into the general operating fund.
