For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than holocausts.

60th Anniversary DVD

Instructions

This DVD will play automatically in most DVD players. Simply put the DVD into the DVD player and the DVD will start automatically.

If the DVD does not start automatically, make sure:

  •  The television is on the right channel for the DVD player.

  •  The DVD function is selected on the player. (This is usually automatic when a DVD is inserted.)

IF YOU SEE "DVD ERROR:" If the DVD player says "DVD error," your DVD player may be too old to play this type of DVD. (This is most common in players that are at least eight years old.) If this is the case, you will not be able to play this DVD on your DVD player. If you have a newer player, it is possible to have a bad DVD -- somewhere around one in ten thousand just don't work. You're welcome to trade in your copy for a new one to try if you think you might have a bad DVD.

Once the DVD starts, you will see a video clip that lasts approximately 45 seconds that is from the Interviews portion of the DVD. At the end of this segment, you will go automatically to the DVD menu.

You can also get to the DVD menu at any time by pressing the "DVD Menu" button on your DVD remote.

At the DVD menu, you will have three choices.

  1. Anniversary Mass

  2. OLL History

  3. Interviews

Use the navigation buttons on your DVD remote to make a selection, and press the selection button on your remote to start that portion of the DVD. (On a lot of remotes, there will be four directional buttons with a fifth button in the center labeled "Enter" The "up" and "down" buttons will scroll between selections and the "enter" button will start the video. )

Note: The menu has music that will play; some DVD players seem to hang at the end of this music, before it loops and starts to play again. If your player is one of the ones that hangs, you will not be able to make a selection or move between sections during this time. Most players will not do this; those that do should not hang longer than about 15 seconds. Tops. But if you hit 16 seconds, you might consider becoming angry and throwing your remote at the television. That seems to help. (Not really.)

After you select a video segment, that segment will play. At the end, you will be returned to the DVD Menu and can select another segment to watch.

You can also return to the DVD menu at any time by pressing the "DVD Menu" on your remote.

The DVD contains three segments:

  1. The First 60 Years: A history of the Our Lady of Lourdes, Raytown, Parish from 1948 to 2008. This history, prepared by Stan Griggs, focuses both on the parish and the people who make up the parish family.

  2. Interviews with OLL Charter Members: This half-hour interview lets some of the people who have lived OLL's history talk about their memories of the early years of the parish.

  3. The Anniversary Mass: Video taped from the choir loft by special permission, this special celebration of the Mass will long be remembered as the highlight of the celebration of the parish's anniversary.
